When Elden Ring was announced at E3 2019, many were excited to see what Hidetaka Miyazaki, the Dark Souls series creator, could do when teamed up with legendary author George R.R. Martin. However, as it stands, Elden Ring is only listed as a future release for the last-generation Xbox One consoles, but will it be released for the Xbox Series X?
Elden Ring Is Still In Development
As it stands, Elden Ring is still in development. There hasn’t been much in the way of updates since the reveal. Many believe development was slowed due to COVID concerns. COVID has affected development for many other game developers too. There were rumors that there would be a big reveal at E3 2020 regarding Elden Ring’s future and the consoles it will release on, but nothing really came of it.
Will Elden Ring Be On The Xbox Series X?
With the time-delay that is COVID, many developers are wondering if they should cease production on the older generation of consoles to focus on the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. This could very well be the case for Elden Ring. Without much news coming from the developers other than trailers and some interviews, we can only assume they’ve made the decision to release Elden Ring for the next-generation consoles. If developers can learn anything from the Cyberpunk 2077 debacle, it’s not to create next-generation games for older generation consoles. This is making every developer do a second take on their product to avoid Cyberpunk’s failure.
